The End Begins

He was waiting. It's been two hours since the doctors took her inside the operation theater. It was a simple procedure. But nothing was guaranteed due to the recent events in her life. The doctors said that everything will be alright as long as she was willing to fight. But she wouldn't and he knew it. He could see her husband sitting silently in one corner of the waiting room. His daughter sat next to him, holding his hands, consoling him. Though no one spoke a word, he knew exactly what was going to happen. That's why he was here!

He was bored of waiting. He paced up and down the hospital corridor, tried to strike a conversation with a patient, checked the trauma wing - his favorite, and even looked at every chart in every ward of the hospital. He wanted to leave soon. He wanted all this to get over. There are million other places where he can conduct his business. But no! He had to be here. Because she is his priority, for now.

He saw a nurse approaching the daughter. Something went wrong and the doctors are trying their best. The nurse assured her that everything will be alright and asked the daughter to hope for the best. Prayer would help, she added in the end. 'It will be over soon', he smirked. The daughter looked at his direction and stared with contempt. For a second he froze thinking she heard him. But no, she was simply trying to hide her tears from her father.

With the clock ticking, he took out his cigar, which has been his custom or more of a signature for closing his business. That's when he saw him. Her son. He is the reason for her to be here. He put her through so much, made her weak, and yet he is here. There was no remorse in his face. But was it as smile? How rude of him, he thought. Well, that was none of his business. Everything will be over soon, he assured himself. Her son would mean extra business, but he was okay with that and went back to his cigar.

When he had his last puff, he saw her. She was staggering towards the waiting room, confused. She is so fragile, he thought. There were so many worry lines. She had aged beyond her age. She kept looking at her husband and daughter, but they didn't notice her. When she was about to call them, she realized a familiar face standing next to her. It was her son. The minute she saw him, all her sadness vanished. She hugged him tight and started to weep like a child. 'I missed you', she said. 'I missed you too mom', he said.

He observed all this from a distance, in complete silence. He has been through this so many times. He very badly wanted to stop their emotional reunion. But, he wouldn't. It was his job to let it happen. He has to wait until they are ready. It's in the agreement that he signed. So without any other choice, he stood their, looking at them.

After few minutes, she looked at him, and then at her husband, who was still holding his daughter's hand and praying. That's when it struck her. 'Finally!', he sighed. Her son held her hands and reassured her everything is going to be alright. And she understood. She looked at her husband and daughter for one last time and murmured 'Take care'. Her son took her in his arms and walked towards Him.

As they were walking towards him, he saw a nurse and a doctor approaching the husband and the daughter. He knew what they are going to say, so he ignored them and turned towards her and her son. He made a courtesy smile - again a part of his job profile - and said 'It's time'. When they slowly made their way out, he could hear the husband cursing her for leaving him alone, just like their son, who died two years back.

When he thought his job was done, he received a text. The patient, with whom he had a chit chat, has been taken to the operation theater and his services are needed! The wait begins - again!

Five Long Years

It has been a million years since I visited my blog and a million more since I last touched my laptop. Yes, you heard it right! For someone who works in an IT company, being away from the computer/laptop is just impossible. It became possible as the 'little bundle of joy' entered my life. Well it's been only eight months (can add ten more if we consider the time that he rented my uterus) since he happened, so the 'million years' might sound like an exaggeration. But trust me it's not. Anyways, I have been thinking of writing something for a while now before I forget words and remember only sounds like gaga and gugu. Though I honestly want to vent out about how difficult and tiring motherhood his, which I do to every single soul that I see, I just realized something - I completed five years at my company! It is a HUGE achievement for me from a professional front since the longest I have ever stayed in an organization was 18 months! Not my fault. I hav...

I wish I was a MAN/DAD!

I have always wanted to be a boy/man. I mean, it's a thought or desire that I have always had since my teen to be born in a different gender because of all the benefits the other gender gets. Physically and emotionally I am a woman, but dreamt or desired to be a man for its benefits. Some might ask what benefit? Well, let me give example from my current situation. I am a mom. Like, I am a mom, 24/7. There is no pause in this role. Since the day I came to know I am pregnant, which is around three years (counting the time I was pregnant) I have been a mom. This statement might be confusing for a lot of people. What does it mean by 'I have been a mom'?  To clarify, since the day I found out I was pregnant, I have been a mom. Not a person with a job, not a soul with desires, not anyone else but a mom. But, my husband, has been able to be what he choose to be. An employee, a son, a husband, a party goer, a sleepy head and much more. He got to choose and still does to be what he ...

Sleep and Let Sleep

It was second week in a row. Abhi was going through a new developmental milestone – walking. Though this was super exciting for Meera, she was not able to enjoy it completely since new milestone leads to behavioral regression, which in Abhi’s case was always sleep regression. Abhi has not slept through the night for two weeks now and Meera is almost on the verge of her meltdown. Whenever this has happened before, Meera would sleep through the day while the babysitter took care of Abhi. Now that she has resumed work, she is losing her sleep and her mind. Last night, Abhi went to sleep around midnight and woke up several times during the night. Meera tried feeding, rocking, and singing to her 15-month-old but gave up when he refused to shut his eye when the clock struck six in the morning. Meera was exhausted. Her aching back and sore breasts only worsened her condition. She tried to entertain Abhi on the bed so that she could at least rest her back. But he refused to settle there an...
